Supporting Your Child’s Potential with Early Intervention Services

As parents or caregivers, we all want the best for our child, but when developmental concerns or disabilities come into play, it can be overwhelming to figure out the best path forward. It is good to know there is a range of early intervention services available to give your child the support they need to thrive. Whether it’s developmental delays or disabilities, accessing the right services early can make a big difference.

Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) is all about giving children the support they need during their most critical years of growth. Aimed at kids aged 0-9, it provides targeted help for those with disabilities or developmental delays.

Early intervention supports may include things like speech pathology services or social interaction supports.

The best part? If your child is under 6, you don’t even need a formal diagnosis to access these services—if there are concerns about their development, you can get started right away.

This means you can act quickly without having to wait for paperwork to catch up.

Tailored Support for Your Family

It’s hard to know where to start with all this. At AIIM Choices, we focus on giving you personalised support that fits your family’s needs.

We provide information about how it all works and can support you with your early intervention application to the NDIS.

We understand that no two children are the same, and neither are their journeys.

That’s why we take the time to listen to your concerns and help you navigate the process of finding the right support for your child.

Our goal is to help your child develop their skills, participate in everyday activities, and grow to their full potential.

We work closely with families, offering what we call “wrap-around support”—walking you through all the details about how ECEI funding works, helping you gather the necessary paperwork, and being with you every step of the way.

If your child is between 0-9 years old and has a disability or developmental delay, they could be eligible for ECEI support.

The support may be through a range of local service providers in your area that are funded from other sources than the NDIS.

Kids under six.

For children under 6, even without a diagnosis, they may still be eligible for services if their family members or others (such as teachers or healthcare providers) have concerns about their development. The NDIS may require supporting evidence from treating professionals, such as paediatricians, occupational therapists, or speech therapists.

This early intervention approach focuses on getting your child the help they need as soon as possible.

Kids six to nine.

For children aged 6-9 with disabilities (formally diagnosed by a specialist or multi-disciplinary team), ECEI can help connect you with the right services to support your child’s growth and learning.

Often, this involves accessing funding through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), and that’s where we come in.

At CHA, our team is experienced in NDIS applications, making sure you have everything you need to give your child the best chance of receiving funding.

Support for your child through the NDIS – ECEI support step by step:

Your Early Childhood Coordinator will work closely with you to connect with these NDIS approved providers, ensuring your child begins receiving the right support as soon as possible.

Early childhood disability supports through the NDIS provides a structured plan designed to meet your child’s unique developmental needs and goals. This support includes immediate access to certain early childhood intervention services through mainstream services, such as inclusive support at childcare or preschool.

For more specialised services, which are better funded through the NDIS, CHA helps with the application process on behalf of you and your child.

Once your NDIS plan is established, ECEI funding will allow you to choose the providers and services that best align with your child’s needs

Your child’s ECEI plan serves as a roadmap, outlining their individual needs, developmental goals, and allocated budget.

The funding and support options are flexible, depending on your child’s evolving needs.

All these details are compiled in what’s called an ECEI Plan.

The NDIS rules regarding eligibility are constantly under review.
